How to Protect Your Energy During Spiritual Practices

You do not need a shopping list of crystals to protect your energy. You need consistency and intention, and those are free.

The most ancient and widely celebrated technique so far can be about encompassing oneself with white light. Before commencing with the practice, just shut down your eyes and imagine a warm, musky glow of light encircling you. This light should beam solidly. It should be yours. Spend half a minute on it; that is indeed all you need.

Some will feel protected, safer, by invoking the protection of something larger than themselves. They might be asking God, the universe, ancestors, or their higher self. It does not matter what it is called as long as there is the act of asking, rather than just gallantly barging alone. It shifts something.

Conclusively, after your beautiful meditation time, close down the ends properly. Thank the sources you connected with. Visualize the bubble completely sealing. Speak it aloud to announce or say in your mind, “the session is over.” A lot of people will open and not close properly. The closing is as important.

Know What Drained Energy Actually Feels Like

Sometimes, even when everything was done perfectly and the skies did not fall, you can have the feeling that was deep and kind of far away from you, like you borrowed it or felt those feelings from somewhere else.

This does not imply you did wrong. This is just another awareness campaign. It means you took on something that was not for you or overreached your own energy on that particular day.

Let it go.
Return to the basics.
Root yourself.

Wash your hands and face with cold water; it is almost too simple, still being used as a means for the cleansing of the energetic across just about all great spiritual traditions. Say aloud, “I let go of anything that isn’t mine,” and then lie down and rest.

The body has its way of cleaning itself. Just give it a chance.

Pay Attention to Who You Practice With

Energy moves between people. It always has. When you are in a shared spiritual space, a group meditation, a healing session, or even a deep conversation about spiritual things, you are in an energetic exchange whether you are aware of it or not.

Most of the time that is a genuinely beautiful thing. Community and shared practice are powerful.

This is not a reason to avoid community. It is just a reason to choose your circles with the same care you choose your close friends. Notice how you feel after time with certain people or groups. Not in a judgmental way, just as useful information about where your energy is safe and where it gets depleted.

A Simple Way to Think About All of This

Protecting your energy is not about fear. You would not run a marathon without warming up and cooling down. You would not leave the house without shoes. This is the same kind of basic care, applied to a part of yourself that is just as real, even if it is less visible.

Start with one thing. An intention before you begin. A grounding practice when you finish. That small shift alone will change how spiritual practice feels for you.

You are allowed to do this and feel good doing it.
