Automatic Writing How to Channel Your Soul’s Wisdom

Ever grabbed a pen, started scribbling, and thought, wait, where did that come from? The words just showed up, and somehow they felt truer than anything you’d say out loud.

That’s automatic writing. And honestly, it’s simpler than it sounds.

What It Actually Is Automatic Writing?

Automatic writing is just letting words land on the page without your brain butting in. No planning. No fixing. No “is this good enough.” You write, and you let it be messy.

Most of us spend all day in our heads, second-guessing everything. Automatic writing quiets that noise for a bit. Call it intuition, your gut, your higher self, whatever word fits you.

Why Bother?

Because you already have answers you keep ignoring.

You know that quiet “yes” or “no” you feel before your brain lists a hundred reasons? That. Automatic writing helps you get to it on purpose, instead of hoping it shows up at 3am.

People come to it for all sorts of reasons:

  • To sort out their head when everything feels tangled
  • To let out feelings they’d been sitting on without realising
  • To ask something real and see what answer comes back
  • To feel like themselves again after years on autopilot

It’s not really about spooky messages. It’s about finally listening to you.

How to Actually Do It

You need a pen, some paper, and a bit of willingness. That’s it. Here’s how I’d start.

Pick a quiet moment. Somewhere you won’t get interrupted. Early morning or last thing at night usually works well, when the house is calm and so are you.

Breathe for a second. A few slow breaths. Drop your shoulders. You’re not trying to impress anyone here. You’re just showing up to listen.

Ask something. In your head, ask what you want help with. A question, a worry, or just, “What do I need to know today?” Keep it honest.

Don’t read as you go. This is the tricky bit. The second you start editing, the flow dies. Resist. Just let it be a mess.

Read it after. When you feel done, take a breath, then go back and read gently. No judging. You might genuinely surprise yourself.

A Couple of Honest Things

Don’t expect magic on the first try. For some people the words pour out straight away. For others it takes a few goes before it clicks. Both are normal. Neither means you’re doing it wrong.

Some days you’ll write something that stops you in your tracks. Other days it’ll feel pretty ordinary. That’s fine too.

And if it gets emotional, let it. A few tears, a wave of relief, a bit of “oh, I didn’t know I felt that.” All part of it.

Want to Go Deeper?

Your soul’s been trying to get a word in for ages. Automatic writing just opens the door.

If you’d like to learn this properly and actually trust what comes through, a bit of guidance goes a long way. Master Sanskritii Sethi runs an Automatic Writing experience that helps you open that door safely and make sense of what lands on the page.
